Hi everybody,
try this on your own risk! I don’t know if it will work with 10.5.x, only tested on Snow Leopard
This version adds the possibility for recognizing a custom three finger tap on Macbook AND Magic Mouse. If you didn’t set a custom gesture shortcut the default for the three finger tap is a middle click (because this is SO great in firefox / safari)
I think this will only work on Snow Leopard:
Download Alpha Version 0.26
//Update: now four finger swipes can be changed! In order to do this you have to deactivate the standard four finger swipe actions in the system preferences!!
//Note: Magic Mouse must be connected before you start BetterTouchTool!
TODO:
- add two finger tap to magic mouse
- tap2click for magic mouse
- add new cool gestures to touchpad
- create a better interface
- create something like a whitelist for apps that should always do the apple defined gesture shortcuts even if global shortcuts are set
- Feature requests very welcome
Please report if this works (would be so great)!
You can get more information on how this works here: http://www.steike.com/code/multitouch/
I think I’ll release my code in a few days.

It’s not so great here. I get the “Mighty Mouse” middle-click Expose thing (the one that happens when you click the little ball) and can’t set anything but a key command combination in the prefs for Safari.
What I really want to do is override the Apple gestures on a per-app basis, since right-click is worthless to me in a Web browser, while open-in-new-tab is extremly valuable.

November 21st, 2009 at 12:39 pmthis is a very exciting project and i look forward to tap-to-click on the magic mouse. i am very much enjoying the 3 tap middle click, but as someone suggested, it would be nice if the gesture was cancelled if you hold 3 fingers for more than a second. thanks for the hard work!
