This version should allow three and four finger clicks even with the new trackpad update installed. Also the 3 finger tap shouldn’t conflict with the 3 finger click anymore.
There are still some limitations:
- the apple 3 finger drag gesture won’t work currently if BTT is running
- there may be issues if you set middleclick as predefined action for the 3/4 finger click. I’ll fix this next.
- currently only magic mouse OR magic trackpad will work, soon you can use both at the same time.
This is very alpha, I had to change the way how clicks are recognized completely but it would be great if you could test if it works for you. The new way how clicks are recognized allows new gestures in future versions e.g. 3 finger swipe while the trackpad is clicked or s.th…
//edit: if you just downloaded this version a few minutes after I posted please redownload. I had an error in it.

I just downloaded this, and it still scrolls when I use 4-finger swipes (I turned off 4-finger swipes in apple’s prefs). I’m using the touchpad on a 13-in unibody Macbook Pro (pre-2010). That is the only thing that’s bugging me right now, everything else works great. Thanks for releasing fixes so quickly and keep up the good work!

Andreas –
I’ve read numerous reviews saying Better Touch Tools is THE application to manage my brand new apple magic mouse with. I found your website, clicked download, opened the zip file and was all ready to start using the program, yet no matter what i try, my Macbook Pro (fall 2009 unibody) will NOT let me open the .app file. It pops up a window saying “You cannot use this version of the application “BetterTouchTool” with this version of Mac OS X”. Any idea why this would be happening?

kurze übersicht was momentan bei mir noch ein bisschen hakt:
)

Found an issue with the magic trackpad (at least, haven’t tried with my regular trackpad)
When BTT is running, the trackpad will not ignore a finger placed at the bottom of the surface that clicks while another finger moves around.
In other words, you cannot click with two fingers apart on the surface.
Disable BTT -> works
Enable BTT -> doesn’t

Tony, it sounds like you’re using 10.5 Leopard rather than 10.6 Snow Leopard. BetterTouchTool requires 10.6. To make sure, open the Apple menu and choose “About this Mac.” Snow Leopard is a $30 upgrade from Apple, BTW.
See http://blog.boastr.net/?page_id=868 for the BTT FAQ and http://www.apple.com/macosx for more about Snow Leopard.
