The new apple trackpad update breaks quite some things ![]()
I’ll try to fix them as soon as possible.
Don’t update if you need the three or four finger click gesture. I may not be able to keep those.
For now the only solution is to disable tap to click if you want the two finger tiptaps etc.
Currently broken:
- three finger tiptaps
- two finger tiptaps
- three finger tap or click
I’ll be able to fix most of them but I think we may lose the three finger click and the four finger click. I’ll post a version which brings back working two finger tiptaps and three finger tiptaps tomorrow at roughly this time.

July 27th, 2010 at 11:08 pmAll my gestures seem to work fine.
But I do have a slight minor problem even before this update.
For switching between tabs in my web browsers, I just one finger tiptaps. But occasionally when scrolling with two fingers, it would trigger this gesture resulting in going to a different tab.
Should I adjust the tiptap sensitivity or is this a bug?

July 28th, 2010 at 12:41 amHuh. At first, BTT didn’t work and the normal Apple gestures didn’t either. I closed BTT, and the Apple gestures worked; I then reopened BTT and everything is working again.
Might be something funky with the initial startup after the update?
FWIW, I’m avoiding all the gestures listed above. I have 3-finger dragging on in Apple’s prefs, but all four-finger actions disabled; I am using 4-finger swipes up and down (with and without command) for expose/dashboard actions, five-finger swipes to resize windows (max, left, right, restore), alt+scroll to go to home/end, and tip-swipes to move to the space in the indicated direction (by pressing the key combo I have associated with that in the Spaces pref pane). I also moved my three-finger tap and click to four-finger tap and click for the middle button.
All these are working for me here. I rather like the three-finger drag/click functionality, although I suspect I’ll be hitting the three-finger middle-click quite a bit before I get used to it being four fingers now …

Do you think you will be able to keep the gestures if we elect to turn off the 3 finger drag? I’ve actually not downloaded the update because i’m so used to your awesome gestures!
Thanks

July 28th, 2010 at 5:31 amI found another issue on my late 2008 15″ mbp after updating
Tip Tap Left in Safari in which I set to be “command – click” works, but differently.
Usually command click would just open the link in new tab. It still does if I deliberately hold down the command key and click or tap on the link.
However if I use the Tip Tap Left gesture, it would open the link in new tab, along with opening the link in the same tab/window where I click the link.
Did that sound confusing? I find it quite difficult to explain.

July 28th, 2010 at 8:28 amYeah, my two finger tiptap left action for middle clicking is sort of broken. It still performs a middle click, but also performs a regular click as well. Strange.

July 30th, 2010 at 12:00 pmFor whatever it may be worth, here’s the Google translation of Falk’s comment.
“I had a MBP with 10.6.4 and the new touchpad update, BTT 0587, and for me to do 3-F-Tap, 3-F-click, and 4-F-Tap like.
In the system I have all the two-finger options, enabled for 3-finder “Browse by wiping, and identified both 4-finger options.”
