- added possibility to use keyboard shortcuts to trigger predefined actions (most of you won’t need that but I like it to use the keyboard for some things)
- they only work global and not appspecific
- YOU WON’T be able to go back to older versions without losing your gestures if you upgrade to this version (unless you backup your /Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool folder)
download & use at your own risk

awesome,
I am going to try it straight away…
Thanks a lot,
Teo

The keyboard shortcuts are very useful indeed! Just wondering whether you intend to add TipSwipe Left Finger Right/Left (like you did for the touchpad) and/or TipSwipe Right Finger Up/Down/(Right/Left). Keep the great work up. Ever grateful. Thanks.
March 13th, 2010 at 1:24 am
Maybe you could add the option to replace an existing shortcut with a new on, like using the arrows to navigate on safaris history instead of com [ or ]. …
March 13th, 2010 at 1:28 am
dude…
btt is getting the most essential-must-have-kick-ass-because-it-makes-life-simplier-app on macs… imho.
thunbs up!
March 13th, 2010 at 4:34 am
i can’t open the BTT with cmd option control + o anymore?
but BTT still works in the background
March 13th, 2010 at 6:53 am
hey,
I like the option to enable or disable a gesture,
could you add this to the trackpad and the magic mouse
Thanks
March 13th, 2010 at 9:26 am
@jpma could you check your console.app for the error it logs when pressing cmd option control + o?
March 13th, 2010 at 9:27 am
@teo you can replace a existing shortcut using your system preferences (keyboard => keyboard shortcuts, then add the app you want to replace s.th. for)
March 13th, 2010 at 9:40 am
how can I check for errors?
because it didn’t show any errors relating to BTT on the console.app
March 13th, 2010 at 9:41 am
strange, could you try 0.5183 I changed the order of two function calls, this maay fix it
March 13th, 2010 at 9:49 am
oh no now i can reproduce the error. wil be fixed asap
March 13th, 2010 at 10:01 am
@ Andreas
Thanks
Teo
March 13th, 2010 at 10:19 am
I hope it works with 0.5184
March 13th, 2010 at 10:19 am
Hey,
I can’t update because of a signing error…
Maybe u can fix this.
Thanks
March 13th, 2010 at 10:43 am
Only thing I would like to see is repeat the action if you hold the keyboard shortcut, for the rest this is a wonderful update, thanks
March 13th, 2010 at 11:52 am
@BloodDragon yes I think this could be useful for some actions, I’ll try to activate this for some actions in a few days.
March 13th, 2010 at 3:02 pm
it’s fine now.
March 13th, 2010 at 6:17 pm
But, the Two fingers swipe left and right are not recognized anymore? Happens only to me?!
March 13th, 2010 at 6:43 pm
@iGerry… snow leopard… restart or logout and backin again
March 13th, 2010 at 6:55 pm
Yes, already done and worked, but in the meanwhile I tried to go back to the previous BTT version and I’ve lost all the gestures, anyway, it’s OK at least I can study all the gestures that I forgot.
One question by the way: the new released requires more RAM than the others? I’ve just launched BTT and it’s already 30MB RAM in Activity Monitor…
March 13th, 2010 at 6:58 pm
@iGerry as I wrote in the post you can’t go back to previous versions… but the loss of the two finger swipe is not related to the version it has happened ever but seems to be not even directly connected to BTT:
I don’t know if it’s too late now but you can try the current version again and see if your old gestures are back then. (but export your current gesture set first so you have a backup)
30MB is currently normal ( if you have opened the preferences window once if not it should be lower). I’ll lower it to about 10MB in a future version
March 13th, 2010 at 8:11 pm
@Andreas I read in the post the related part that I can’t go back, but also says that if I backup the BTT folder I could. So I did it, backup BTT folder and gone back but now I think that you mean “backup BTT folder before upgrading”. I don’t but anyway, it’s not a problem for me, i discover other better gestures reconfiguring everything from zero.
The loss of those two gestures I suppose it’s not related to this new version either because now I reinstall it and it works. Maybe some Snow Leopard bug, I don’t know.
Ok, 30MB it’s good though 10MB would be WOW!
Thanks Andreas and once again, it’s an awesome app!!
March 14th, 2010 at 4:24 am
I’m having issues with 3 Finger click. Live view doesn’t detect it. 3-Finger click works however. I’m trying to assign middleclick to it.
March 14th, 2010 at 4:31 am
Ack I meant 3 Finger Tap works, but not Click. Excuse my typo.
March 14th, 2010 at 5:00 am
3 finger swipe (all 4 directions) stopped working for me…
March 14th, 2010 at 8:53 am
@cow logout and back in or restart your mac then it will work again (should not be connected to the version)
March 14th, 2010 at 3:38 pm
andreas i have a very serious problem… when i do the login in my acccount at startup immediatly go in logout my mac… when btt start… i can’t do nothing! what i must do??? for disable it?? and go to a previous version please answere me here no in the email
March 14th, 2010 at 7:13 pm
Mhh that is very strange, I don’t think that btt is causing this?! You can try hitting cmd + alt+ctrl + q then btt will quit immediately.(hit it often while your mac logs in)
March 14th, 2010 at 7:21 pm
@saber you can also try booting in safe mode (hold shift while booting) then it will load no startup items
But I would be REALLY interested in if BTT caused this and if yes could you please send me a export of your gestures and the com.hegenberg.BetterTouchTool.plist from /Library/Preferences ?
March 14th, 2010 at 8:15 pm
i think was not cause by btt because in safe mode there be the same problem i must format and reinstall all…
March 14th, 2010 at 8:17 pm
it didn’t load btt in safe mode correct?
March 14th, 2010 at 9:43 pm
i don’t know… but all program in my status bar work and when is the btt turn my mac go in logout… in safe mode and in normal mode…
March 15th, 2010 at 12:38 am
Hey Andreas,
Great work, i could not do without bettertouch anymore. thx for that.
On thing is missing, Could you please enable the possibility to choose more than one modifier key (cmd, ctrl, etc) when we choose a new gesture, that would be awesome and very useful. For example with fiderpop i use also all the time, if you do enable this, the combination could make it the perfect couple
Thx in advance
PS: I wanted to send you a mail but didn’t find your address, so i hope you’ll read this.

Hi Andreas,
I currently have 0.5184 and I have noticed one thing – when I have a Finder window open for a long time, some of my gestured don’t work. The gestures for Finder that I usually use are resizing/moving ones – and they don’t work.
However, I am able to use 3f swipe down (which does a cmd+w). Also, if I drag the window to an edge, I would get a white screen (for maximize), but it does not do anything. The problem can be solved after closing that Finder window and opening a new one.
I have seen the same issue in some previous versions.
I am not sure if I am explaining it correctly or not – please let me know if I should be more clear.
March 15th, 2010 at 4:36 am
I had the Finder problem once, but I just restarted BTT and it’s been fine since.
@Andreas Hegenberg I was wondering if you could add a feature where you can have a preset window size that you can have set to go with a gesture. I realize that you can set the pages to whatever percent on the right and left side, but it would be sweet if you could set up a specific window size and just have it go into the top left corner.
I’m almost positive that nobody else would find this to useful though…

Hey Andreas,
I know you prefer bugs reported in the forum, but i don’t have time for that at the moment.
Every time I turn on my computer, Better Touch Tool shows the following message:
“Persistent store migration failed, missing source managed object model.
Failed to initialize the store.
Persistent store migration failed, missing source managed object model.
Failed to initialize the store
The managed object model version used to open the persistent store is incompatible with the one that was used to create the persistent store.
Failed to initialize the store
Persistent store migration failed, missing source managed object model.
Failed to initialize the store”
Each of these messages come up individually in a pop up box and it is a real bummer to have to klick through these every single time I sign on.
Is there something that I must fix? Or is this a problem at your end?
Thanks,
MrAsh02
March 15th, 2010 at 12:05 pm
@MrAsh02 this is because you have a old version in the autostart. I think you downloaded the current alpha and started it, then you have to stick with this alpha. You can remove the old versions from your login items if you go to System Preferences => Accounts => login items
March 15th, 2010 at 9:06 pm
@Andreas thanks so much. I think that fixed it.
Keep up the good work on your app!

Love love LOVE it! BTT Rocks! Can’t believe I’ve went this long without single finger tap left and right…AWESOME…
March 16th, 2010 at 7:51 pm
the 2 finger swipe does not seem to work anymore.
not the default one – and also not if I try to set it up and compare to the live view.
any idea?
March 16th, 2010 at 9:22 pm
@marcel logout and back in or restart your mac then it will work again. (not related with current btt version)
March 16th, 2010 at 9:23 pm
hi andreas,
just leaving a short comment…
i finally got a magic mouse and i asure everyone magic mouse without BTT is not more than a stiley looking mouse. In combination with BTT it’s really a mighty… uhm i mean magic mouse!
awesome!
March 17th, 2010 at 2:47 am
> @cow logout and back in or restart your mac then it will work again (should not be connected to the version)
that works, thanks! (yes I upgraded from an older version…)
March 17th, 2010 at 4:58 am
I can’t seem to get three finger swipe to detect in “Live View” nor work anywhere else. It detects four finger swipes (up and down, left and right). Five finger swipes work too. I’m able to turn four finger actions off and on while Safari runs, works just fine.
I’m trying to get a three finger swipe to go to the top or the bottom of the page. I’ve disabled all three, four, and five finger actions in the Trackpad pref pane. I’ve tried rebooting.
I’m on a 2008 Macbook Pro, if that matters. I’m running 0.5185.
March 17th, 2010 at 8:46 am
Tonight I had an idea, maybe you like it.
There could be a trigger gesture, which allows you to do any other gesture after it with a whole new shortcut than usual. It´s kind of double or triple the possibilities.
I know, you could do this with function keys as well, but this way you don´t need to touch the keyboard at all.
Sorry if it sounds a bit confuse, English is not my native language, but I think it´s not so friendly to post things in German here.
March 17th, 2010 at 4:34 pm
I have been wondering if it would be possible to have a “batch action” possible. Basically, we would perform a gesture and it would perform multiple actions in order. (it may be similar to eyekey’s idea)
March 20th, 2010 at 7:14 am
Wow great app! Something the magic mouse really needed!
March 20th, 2010 at 5:10 pm
I really love this utility, it’s a great piece of software and really makes the mouse and track pad 100x more powerful.
The Windows 7-style snap feature is so nice! I was wondering if it might be possible to add a setting to control the delay before it snaps. I realize this might pose some trouble with expose, but I could see it very useful to add a bit more delay in my own workflow when snapping to the upper quadrant of the screen. Thanks again for your work on this app!
