Sorry I didn’t have much time to code today… so I decided to not put this to normal alpha update but release it just on the blog.
Features:
- move and resize windows easily.
- to move windows with the touchpad press fn and move your mouse cursor
- to resize windows with the touchpad press ctrl and move your mouse cursor
- you can also set any gesture to start/stop the resizing/moving
- for the magic mouse you should use two/three finger touch at the very top for start reszing/moving
Known issues
- currently the windows 7 style window placing is deactivated if you use more than one monitor
- old window size is currently not saved
//EDIT: if you downloaded testing8 a few minutes ago … please redownload, it was broken
Download & use at your own risk
You should set it like this if you want to try the new features:

January 17th, 2010 at 10:17 pmAny chance of getting “single finger at top” added to the list to go along with “two fingers at top” and “three fingers at top” ?
Thanks!
Bill

January 17th, 2010 at 10:20 pm@Bill yes
currently those gestures are only really usable with the resizing and moving feature -
3. Dallas Says:
January 17th, 2010 at 10:55 pmDoes not appear to give these options for Trackpad at all. Oh well.

January 17th, 2010 at 11:02 pmas I wrote on the touchpad you currently can only use fn or ctrl and then move the mouse with your touchpad (see the second screenshot in the post)

January 17th, 2010 at 11:11 pmAre you planning to put a feature in to restore the window to the size/shape it was if you drag it away again using the Fn key like in 7? Or more likely, does it already exist and I haven’t seen it?
-
6. Andreas Hegenberg Says:
January 17th, 2010 at 11:15 pm@jlabes will be there sometime but it’s a bit complicated so will take a few days

7. Dallas Says:
January 17th, 2010 at 11:16 pmAhhhhhhh! I saw that but was confused on what it meant. Was expecting to have to still create a gesture for each.
Fn and Cntrl act as toggle (on/off) buttons for it. Got how it works. Thanks. -
8. Andreas Hegenberg Says:
January 17th, 2010 at 11:17 pm@Dallas yep that will be clearer in future versions

January 17th, 2010 at 11:18 pmon touchpad:
resizing and moving only “stops” when i lift my finger from the touchpad, not when i lift my finger from the modifier-key. also the windows-7-style-windows resizing only works when you lift the finger from the touchpad.
the option for use “focused window” instead of “window under cursor” doesn’t work.
in both cases it moves the window under the cursor, not the focused one.in your example-video you moved the windows but the cursor remained at the same place. at least in the touchpad-version the cursor moves with the window. i don’t know how it should work in this release but i think it’s more useful when the cursor stays at the same place and you “swipe the windows away”.

January 17th, 2010 at 11:21 pm@hegel yeah thats currently all expected behavior. Didn’t find a solution on how to get notified if the fn/ctrl key is released yet.
Focused window is currently only for the predefined actions maximize, move left etc. but I can activate it for the resizing and moving too.I may implement the thing where the cursor stays put but it doesn’t really feel that natural, I like it more when the cursor moves with it. Maybe as option.

January 17th, 2010 at 11:54 pmHi, very interesting features, but the window movement will be more comfortable if you add an option to magnetic snap to the monitor edges, so it will be easier to move windows from one side to another.
I tried to set up the three finger tap on top but can not get it working, with Magic Mouse.
-
13. Andreas Hegenberg Says:
January 17th, 2010 at 11:55 pm@DanX not tap, just touch! You fingers have to stay on the mouse while moving.
-
14. DanX Says:
January 18th, 2010 at 12:18 amAndreas, I mean touch, I am trying to make it work with resize window but the three finger touch top is not working with resize, if I try with move it works perfect.

January 18th, 2010 at 2:47 amHey, I just had a general question. Will you ever allow us to exclude an application, like for a certain command, exclude Photoshop and Safari or something.
-
19. Andreas Hegenberg Says:
January 18th, 2010 at 2:50 amyeah you could already do this if you create a gesture for that app that does nothing
-
20. Lucas Says:
January 18th, 2010 at 2:51 am@Andreas Oh ya, never thought of that, thanks. This software is amazing by the way, thanks for making this available for free.

January 18th, 2010 at 3:11 amIt’s working quite well, but pity the windows seven function is deactvated over two monitors I really find it so much useful!!!

January 18th, 2010 at 3:22 amHow do you actually use the Windows 7 like feature?
-
24. Martin Says:
January 18th, 2010 at 4:54 amGreat software, works like a charm most of the time!
Is there any chance that you might implement a “one finger on mouse at the same time as one finger swipes”? It seems that such a gesture would be quite easy to perform… Ofcourse I don’t have a clue of what kind of access you can get to the hardware, so I don’t know what is possible… -
25. greg Says:
January 18th, 2010 at 7:01 amAny chance to be able to move the mouse cursor while holding down a cmd keyset replicating a tracker ball motion (i.e. not scrolling, and not requiring hand movement to move the cursor around the screen) ?

January 18th, 2010 at 8:50 amHi Andreas,
Thanks for your piece of software.
One big problem for me: every second startup the speed of the cursor is back to zero. I have to go to the preferences and reset it.
So it is not usable for me.
What’s wrong? -
27. michals Says:
January 18th, 2010 at 9:12 amhi andreas….could you in the future add double taps…?? e.g. two finger double tap, three finger double tap….would be easier to move windows with doubletaps then with assigned modifier keys…thanks

January 18th, 2010 at 8:29 pmHi Andreas,
I’m using the latest generation MacBook Pro, meaning I have to press and hold the modifier keys to move windows (fn and cntrl). However, every now and then, seemingly at random, when I move my cursor the window will move even though I don’t have any modifier keys pressed down. Tapping fn releases the cursor, but this happens at least once every 1-2 minutes. Hope you can fix it.
Thanks!

January 18th, 2010 at 10:32 pmHere’s what’s happening. Open a finder window, or a safari window, for e.g.
with your right hand (don’t matter), press DOWNARROW, and at the same time, move a left hand finger at touchpad. The window starts moving, until you lift your finger from touchpad.
It works also with up, left and right arrow.
…

32. Andreas Hegenberg Says:
January 18th, 2010 at 10:34 pmlol thanks rafa, I’ll see what causes this.

33. Rafa Says:
January 18th, 2010 at 10:40 pmYou’re Welcome – I’ve liked the new features a lot, but after them, Btt sometimes presents “delay” in some operations like 3 or 4 fingers swiping. It was smoother some “testing versions ago”.Thanks again.

January 18th, 2010 at 11:06 pmWhich shortcut should I set in order to make work zoom in/out in QuickLook? Using Cmd + ‘+’ / ‘-’ don’t show the FullScreen Mode that should be.
What can I use to rotate pictures with my Magic Mouse?
Thanks a lot !
