- two finger scrolling should work if there is no custom two finger swipe shortcut set
- three finger scrolling should work if there is no custom three finger swipe shortcut set
- fixed some memory leaks (maybe not all)
- fixed some performance issues, but there is much room for improvements (next week)
- three finger swipes on magic mouse are back and MAY be better, but I have not really tested it yet
- will be available via autoupdate in about an hour if no major bugs are posted, you can now download it here:
//edit: 0.316
//edit: 0.317 download this! Fixes crash after reconnect (hopefully)
If you have problems (e.g with 4 finger swipes) and you already had installed a previous version, try deleting the bettertouchtool plist from your /Library/Preferences. But you’ll lose your settings of you do.
If your three finger swipe gestures or three finger click stops working regularly try activating the “risky option in the preferences” (but read earlier posts about it).
Todos for next week:
- make all gestures better
(better algorithms for recognizing swipes etc.)
- implement tap2click on magic mouse
- implement a good working two finger click on magic mouse
- implement remote mode for magic mouse so you can use it as remote for your media mac (I think about using it basically as touchpad to move the cursor with the finger so you could hold it in your hand while moving the mouse) (would imho be a great looking remote
)
- fix many bugs reported by YOU! thank you!
- implement more gestures (definitely coming: 4 finger tap for macbook)
Your contribution:
- report bugs
- suggest new things
- spread the word
Pico Mitchell sent me a GUI proposal, what do you think about it? (Pico please describe it in the comments, I don’t have time now
)

atm I’m fixing the memory issues. Also scrolling with two and three fingers will be available again on the magicmouse (if now swipe actions are set). And maybe the three finger swipes.
New version soon. As I’m going to Stockholm tomorrow morning this will be one of the last versions before monday so you don’t have to check back here until monday.

- fast restart button and menuitem
- update button in prefs
- exit button in prefs
- NO three finger swipes for magic mouse atm. Will be back soon (working I hope)

- three finger swipes for magic mouse (but very untested so this version is not yet available via autoupdate)
//Edit: sorry 3 finger swipe do not work properly yet (for magic mouse), but I’ll make them working soon
you can stay with 0.310 atm!! I removed the downloadlink for 0.313 so I don’t confuse people with non working 3 finger gestures
If you encounter problems with gestures not working after a few minutes try activating the “risky” option in the preferences but read my earlier post about this.
Tomorrow I’ll go for optimizing the performance of the tool. Also I’ll enable scrolling with two and three fingers if no gesture is set which is using this. Thanks for the hints!!

- three finger tap for magic mouse is back
- no default middle click anymore you have to set the gesture and action with the new popup menu
- four finger swipes behave a little different now

Because I won’t have time to create the new userinterface until monday (flying to Stockholm this weekend without macbook
) I just sorted the gestures a little bit.
This version is still not for productive use, use 0.291 instead. Or use 3.04 on your own risk!
At the moment two finger swipe left / right and three finger swipe left/ right will do the same. So if you set two finger swipe left for your magic mouse the same shortcut is set for three finger swipe left on your touchpad.
//edit sorry, 0.303 didn’t work as expected, download 0.304
//edit: if you set shortcuts for swipe left/ right/ up/down you may have to do this again in order to get them working again.
//edit 0.305 fixes a bug (btt crashed when reconnecting magic mouse)
//edit 0.306 adds slider for adjusting the sensitivity of two finger swipe up and down on magic mouse
Download alpha 0.306 here and report bugs in the comments

As my tool spreads really really fast (yesterday I nearly had 1500 downloads) you should still be aware that this is very beta!
There are many things to do, but this will happen soon (er or later)
- The current userinterface kinda sucks. There will be something completely new but this will take some time
- Many improvements, especially for the magic mouse have to happen. Thanks for your comments on version 0.297 they helped a lot and I’ll work the suggestions in.
- Four finger swipes are not perfect yet (but they should basically work if you disable the apple 4 finger swipes in your system prefs), there will be a updated version today.
- Many things are unclear and not well documented (who would expect swipe left and swipe right on magic mouse means 2 finger swipe left and right BUT two finger swipe up and down on the magic mouse and on the mac swipe always means “three finger”…). Will have to fix those.
- I’m studying and have much time but not endless time, so please be patient, this tool is gonna get awesome!
- The current beta supports three finger clicks for magic mouse …. three finger swipes coming soon.
- Please post any glitches you encounter in the comments, I’ll fix them all (sooner or later)
- If you have two monitors connected to your mac and want a second menubar take a look at my other project SecondBar

Changes:
- tried to fix 3 finger tap
- removed two finger tap for now, but will be back soon (also two finger swipe up and down for magic mouse is coming!!)
- added option to hide the menuextra / tray icon. Preferences window can then be shown via ctrl+alt+cmd+o)
- little bugfixes
//EDIT: Sorry I uploaded the wrong version. Download again!!
Thanks to Aaron Meurer (he found a typo it is ctrl+alt+cmd+o to open the preferences window if you don’t show the icon)

Because it is silly to post so many different versions here on the blog I’d like to have some betatesters that always want to test the most recent version and will report bugs / suggestions to me.
Please write a mail to bettertouchtool [ at ] boastr.net if you want to help!
